Lead Outdoor Learning Instructor at Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre

UK Youth have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and experienced lead instructor to join our Outdoor Learning team.

Based inside The New Forest National Park, Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Centre works with a wide variety of groups and provides opportunities for young people to experience, learn and develop through inclusive outdoor learning programmes. 

What is the role

As a lead outdoor learning instructor, you will be a key part of our delivery team. Key responsibilities include:

•          Helping to lead our delivery team by supervising department resources and activity areas

•          Line managing, mentoring, and developing junior staff

•          Delivering our portfolio of activities and

•          Supporting the day-to-day running of the department, diligently meeting Health & Safety legislation and departmental SOP’s.

We are looking for individuals who have previous experience of working in an outdoor centre for a minimum of 24 months and experience of delivering outdoor learning sessions to a range of ages and abilities. 

Candidates must hold a valid first aid certificate and either BC Coach Award or minimum BC Paddle sport Instructor and one of the following:

·              RCI Assessed

·              CWI Assessed (Abseil desirable)

·              ERCA Traditional Instructor

A nationally recognised walking/navigation, mountain bike or environmental qualification, as well as being able to demonstrate a general knowledge of Health and Safety and a basic understanding of safeguarding and data protection within the context of an Outdoor Learning setting is also desirable.

What we can offer you

Salary: £25,696.32, based on an average of 37.5 hours a week

Duration: this is a permanent full-time contract

 Accommodation: shared onsite accommodation is available from £160 per month.
